Dr. Lamont Larry

As a consultant, Dr. Larry brings 30 years of experience as a Psychologist to D. Gambles and Associates. He earned his B.A. in Psychology from Colgate University. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Syracuse University. He completed his Pre-Doctoral Internship at the New York University-Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City, where he received training in Child and Family therapy and was chosen to participate in the highly selective Kirby Internship to receive training in both Civil and Forensic Psychology at Bellevue Hospital and at the Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center. Following his Pre-Doctoral Internship, he was awarded a two-year Forensic Psychology Fellowship through the New York University Medical School at the Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center. In addition to his fellowship, he received advanced training in Child and Family therapy at the New York University Millhauser Clinic and he obtained training and certification as an Ericksonian Hypnotherapist from the New York Society of Ericksonian Psychotherapy and Hypnosis (NYSEPH). After completing his fellowship, he worked as a School Psychologist with the Astor Child Guidance Center in Bronx, NY. At Astor, he provided a range of psychological services to address childhood learning and behavior problems, which included psychological and psychoeducational testing, individual and group child psychotherapy, child and family therapy, and behavior management interventions, as well as consultation and training for parents, teachers and staff. After relocating to Washington, D.C., Dr. Larry provided psychological services for children, families, and staff at a variety of mental health agencies in the District and in Northern Virginia which included Washington Assessment and Therapy Services (WATS), the Alexandria Community Services Board, the Arlington Community Services Board, and the National Children’s Center (NCC). At the NCC residential program, he provided psychological services for children and adults with more severe psychiatric disorders, emotional disorders, behavioral disorders, developmental disabilities, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. At the NCC school, he provided developmental and psychoeducational testing to assess developmental delays and learning disabilities. He was a consultant with the Capitol Hill Supportive Services Program, Inc. (CHSSP), where he provided psychological services for their adult day program and their adult group home. As an adjunct professor with the George Washington University Professional Psychology Doctoral Program, he taught psychoeducational assessment. Currently, Dr. Larry is a Forensic Psychologist on staff at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, D.C. where he provides other psychological services as well. He developed the hospital’s first computer-based cognitive remediation program. He developed the hospital’s current Autism Spectrum Disorder assessment service. He is trained in the assessment and treatment of Dissociative Disorders. He provides geropsychological services on one of the hospital’s geriatric units and has developed a brief geropsychological screening measure that quickly assesses cognitive, emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning in geriatric patients. He provides neuropsychological testing as part of the hospital’s Neuropsychology Service team. He is on the hospital’s Trauma Informed Care training staff and he is a faculty member in the hospital’s Clinical Psychology student training program.
